Skoda teases baby SUV Vision X concept
Skoda will reveal its baby SUV concept, Vision X, alongside its refreshed Fabia at the Geneva Motor Show.
SKODA HAS TEASED ITS Vision X concept which hints at the look of its baby SUV; it will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The Czech car maker isn’t saying much about its baby SUV, but we know it won’t be on the same platform as the new Fabia, rather it’ll share its underpinnings with the Volkswagen T-Roc which sits on the MQB A0 modular platform.
In a statement accompanying the design sketches, Skoda said, “With its compact proportions, the Skoda Vision X is presented as the ideal companion for an active, urban lifestyle. Precise lines and clear surface contours characterise the exterior and highlight the dynamic character of the FlexGreen-painted hybrid study. A roof in contrasting Anthracite sets sporty accents. In addition, distinctive bumpers, dominant side sills, a large panoramic glass roof and 20-inch alloy wheels create a powerful look. The sharp design was inspired by traditional Czech glasswork”. Can anyone see hints of Hyundai Kona in the design?
Skoda has previously said that targeting the growing SUV segment is core to its growth strategy, and the Vision X hints at the third SUV for Skoda, joining the Kodiaq and Karoq. More than this, Skoda said that 2025 it will be developing all-electric and hybrid powertrains and that from 2025 onwards, every fourth vehicle the brand delivers worldwide will have a plug-in hybrid or purely electric powertrain.
The interior of the Vision X will be a flash place, with cut crystal glass used to create ambient lighting, and a standing-proud infotainment screen. This will, of course, be toned for a more practical interior when the vehicle makes it to production.
