Mountune Performance Kits available for Fiesta ST and Focus ST

Ford has announced it will sell the UK-developed Mountune Performance Kits for the Ford Fiesta ST and Focus ST. Kits are available from mid-year.

FORD HAS ANNOUNCED it will sell the UK-developed Mountune Performance Kits for both the Focus ST and Fiesta ST, with the kits available from mid-year.

“Our Australian R&D and product investments are paying off as we transform Ford in Australia and customers respond to our new vehicles,” says Graeme Whickman, President and CEO, Ford of Australia. “We think our new Mountune Performance packs will bring even more excitement as we expand our performance vehicle lineup as part of plans to launch 20 new vehicles by 2020.”

The Mountune kits are part of Ford’s recently announced Ford Licensed Accessories (FLA). Launched this month, the FLA program, said Ford, will allow it to grow the number of accessories available to Australian buyers from the wider Ford galaxy, backing them with Ford warranty.

And that Ford warranty will consist of 3 years/100,000kms when the accessories are fitted at the point of sale of a new vehicle. After the fact will attract a 12 month warranty or 20,000km and be covered by the Ford Express Parts and Accessories Warranty. The main benefit of this systems is that fitting the aftermarket parts doesn’t affect the vehicle’s ‘main’ warranty. Although, just what affect it will have on insurance will be up to the individual insurer, especially where performance modifications are concerned.

The Fiesta ST with Mountune Performance Kit sees power jump to 158kW at 6000rpm and 320Nm to torque at 3200rpm. The Focus ST steps up from 184kW and 345Nm of torque to 220kW and 400Nm at 2750rpm. Performance data is based on 95RON fuel.

The Mountune Performance MP215 package for the Ford Fiesta ST consists of:

  • Custom aluminium high-flow airbox with dual cold air feeds
  • Mountune high-flow panel air filter
  • Porous lower air feed hose
  • Required hardware / clips
  • Revised engine calibration
  • Mountune Performance badge
  • mTune handset for performance calibration

The Fiesta ST kit takes approximately one hour to fit and has a recommended retail price of $2328.

  • Large-capacity alloy intercooler (black no logo)
  • Low-cost cast crossover duct (black)

Not bad value but I’d be shopping around and finding what the aftermarket also offers. Still you keep factory warranty, but seeing I never buy a car new, warranty is not an issue but plenty will appreciate the peace of mind.

I can see your point, but I think the fact it’s a factory-backed unit will appeal to those who want to beef up the power but don’t necessarily want to deal with aftermarket suppliers… It’s modfying for the non-car enthusiast enthusiast, if that makes sense. – Isaac

Yes which is what I said in the second half of my post. I think a lot of people would like the peace of mind and it’s a good package in that regard, I normally deal with aftermarket but it’s good to see factory options available if the price is good value.
