Honda notched up 7013 vehicles sold in June to set a record for the brand in Australia with a 34% increase year on year.

HONDA SET a sales record in June with the brand selling more than 7000 vehicles. Riding the SUV wave, the brand says the CR-V and HR-V drove the record month.

“June was a milestone result for the Honda team, driven by a great range of SUVs and passenger cars that our customers are really engaging with. What makes this result even stronger is that we are selling the vast majority of our vehicles to private customers, not fleets and rental. We have had a really strong first half of 2018 with a total of 29,301 sales, so we are well on track to exceed 50,000 sales once again,” said Stephen Collins, Director at Honda Australia.

“Honda’s unique DNA has being woven into our revitalised range of SUVs and passenger cars that are designed and built around world-class engineering, functionality and reliability. The fact that we are able to deliver strong product with great value is driving our success.”

The CR-V realised 2232 new vehicles delivered in June. The second-biggest sales results for CR-V was in August 2000 with a monthly result of 2108.

“CR-V is flying, we truly believe there’s no SUV on the market that delivers a better overall package for customers, and with the recent launch of the new limited edition CR-V +Sport it gets even better. We’ve got more exciting new announcements coming for CR-V later in the year as well,” said Collins.

Also achieving a record result for Honda in June in the small SUV segment, HR-V achieved 1760 sales for the month. The previous record for HR-V was reached in June 2016 with 1,696 vehicles sold. The HR-V is currently in run-out which could account for the June rush.

The record sales result was rounded out by the Civic range across hatch and sedan which realised total sales of 1750 (in June) within the small car segment.
