The 2017 Peugeot 3008 has been confirmed for sale in Australia with the model arriving in early 2017.

THE 2017 PEUGEOT 3008 will go on-sale in Australia in early 2017, boasting a new platform, drivetrains, technology and design. Only the name is a carry-over, Peugeot said.

“Previously a derivative of an MPV, designers and engineers focused on the booming SUV segment for the second-generation 3008, ensuring its appeal to SUV buyers,” Peugeot said in a statement.

The new 3008 shares its platform, the modular EMP2 – meaning it can be adjusted for different size vehicles, with the 308, Citroen Picasso and Grand Picasso.

When it arrives in Australia, there’ll be the choice of a turbocharged 1.6-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel available on selected models, both are Euro 6 compliant. Both will be mated to a six-speed automatic only.

Peugeot Australia General Manager, Kai Bruesewitz, said 2017 will bring with it a significant number of new and revised models for Peugeot but none more exciting than the all-new 3008.

“The launch of 3008 will coincide with a significant refocus and refresh of the brand and model line-up in Australia,” said Bruesewitz.

“The remainder of 2016 will be dedicated to preparing our business for the launch of two all-new models and a refresh to a further two model lines in 2017.

“With its all-new platform and drivetrains, combined with its French design and engineering, we are extremely excited about the all-new 3008 and believe that this is the Peugeot SUV Australians have been waiting for,” Bruesewitz added.

All-new 3008’s final pricing, model line-up and on-sale date will be confirmed closer to its 2017 launch.
