The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV has been teased via two design sketches ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week.

THE GERMAN car maker didn’t reveal much about the vehicle, although the new Tiguan has been spied testing recently. The sketches of the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan suggest it’s been influenced by the Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE concept albeit a ‘turned-down’ version of it.

Expected to look sleeker than the current Tiguan with shorter front and rear overhangs, the new Tiguan will be built off Volkswagen’s versatile MQB platform. According to rumours, the new Tuguan is believed to be around 80kg lighter than the current SUV. Typically, there’ll be front-drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (4WD or 4MOTION) versions and it’s believed a hybrid version is also in the works.

We’ll know more as we get closer to the reveal.
