The new 2016 DS 4 Crossback and DS 4 have been teased in a new video ahead of their official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a few days.

THE NEW 2016 DS 4 Crossback and DS 4 hatch back have been teased in a new video that’s been shot to emulate a movie trailer rather than a new car teaser – and it makes very little sense at all. The DS 4 models borrow front-end styling from the DS 5 and the Numéro 9 Concept Car.

Like the DS 3 and DS 5, the DS 4 gets the same LED headlights which feature 84 LEDs with a Xenon directional module (in a nod to the original DS) and new LED scrolling function for the indicators.

“New DS 4 and DS 4 Crossback bring together the best in DS technology. Result: two vehicles, two new DS, with a very strong personality and an incomparable level of equipment and finishing — generally reserved for the next segment up — efficient engines that set absolute standards in terms of performance and fuel efficiency, and modern connectivity features. While the Crossback body style is sure to inspire surprise and enthusiasm, New DS 4 hatchback version is a real alternative to conventional premium vehicles,” said Eric Apode, VP Products and Business Development.

The DS 4 models will be the first DS models to feature Apple CarPlay with a 7-inch touchscreen display and allows drivers to control everything from navigation to music. It also features the DS Connect Box which includes an SOS & Assistance pack which automatically calls emergency services in the event of a collision or a breakdown. It also features a Monitoring Pack and a Tracking Pack which allows you to locate the vehicle in the event of it being stolen.

While the final specification list of the DS 4 here in Australia is still to be decided on, it’s likely it will feature reversing camera, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning. The DS 4 offers massaging seats and a leather upholstered dashboard.

When the DS 4 is released in Europe in October it will be available with six engines: three petrol and three diesel; the DS 4 Crossback will only get four: two petrol and two diesel engines. These engines will be available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

While DS is still keeping some details to itself, it has said the DS 4 Crossback will get a ride height 30mm more than the standard DS 4, but it hasn’t detailed the ride height of the standard DS 4. DS does suggest the DS 4 Crossback “is able to take on different types of terrain”. With boot space of 359 litres, the DS 4 and DS 4 Crossback should be practical.
