Toyota Tonka 4Runner revealed at SEMA
Who says adults can’t play with toys? Toyota and Tonka teamed up to build the Tonka 4Runner which has been revealed at SEMA this week.
“PUTTING THE ‘TOY’ IN TOYOTA,” is how the press statement starts off and it’s hard to argue against it… Toyota has teamed up with Funrise Toy Corporation (makers of Tonka for Hasbro) to produce the Tonka 4Runner concept which is on-show now at SEMA in Las Vegas.
This is the second time Toyota has collaborated with the Tonka brand, the first time was on the Tonka Tundra fire truck.
The Tonka 4Runner is powered by the same 4.0-litre V6 as the production 4Runner, but that’s where the similarities begin and end… mostly. The concept vehicle’s body has been lifted by a 10-inch Bulletproof Suspension lift kit, gets sports bold matte black and yellow Tonka graphics. And 20-inch Ultra Motorsports Type 250 Colossus wheels are enveloped by Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 38×15.50R20LT off-road tyres. Over each tyre are Rigid Industries LED lights.
The custom suspension includes King 8×2.5-inch and 10×2.5-inch coilovers, as well as an assortment of Bulletproof Suspension components. Bulletproof also designed the vehicle’s welded bumpers, roof rack, side steps and ladders. On top of the Tonka 4Runner is a pop-up tent.
