The refreshed 2017 Mazda CX-5 has been teased ahead of its reveal at the LA Motor Show next month.

MAZDA HAS TEASED a very dimly lit image of the refreshed 2017 CX-5 ahead of its global reveal at the LA Motor Show which opens to the public from November 18. It will be revealed to the world on November 16.

No technical details were revealed with the image, but the CX-5 dates back to 2012 and so is the oldest, non-refreshed model in Mazda’s line-up and arguably one of its most successful models in SUV-mad Australia.

The refreshed CX-5 definitely looks different from the current model, with a longer more aggressive looking profile. The new CX-5 also looks to sit lower than the current car with its slim head-lights accentuating that stretched but good-looking profile. In all, it looks less upright than the current car and is in stark contrast to the bigger VW Tiguan which uses its body to show off its size and perceived practicality.

Mazda said, “With the Next Gen Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV, Mazda has further refined every element of its design and technology to offer new dimensions of driving pleasure.

“Taking the “KODO – Soul of Motion” design concept to a new level, the company has honed the car’s beauty, imparting a powerful combination of sophistication and strength.”

The recent tweaks to the Mazda6, in terms of NVH and engine refinement are expected to be incorporated into the new CX-5. Stay tuned.
