Lamborghini Aventador SVJ sets new Nurburgring production car lap record
The still-very-much-a-secret Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has just busted the production car lap record at the Nurburgring.
6:44:97. THAT’S THE new production car lap record at the Nurburging. And that is three-seconds faster than the previous record set by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
“This is another demonstration of the exceptional skill and teamwork of the dedicated personnel within Automobili Lamborghini: the R&D team, as well as our test drivers, and of course partners such as Pirelli,” said Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer.
Lamborghini still hasn’t released power figures or, much at all about the hardcore Aventador SVJ but it has said things like the suspension and steering have been retuned, new tyres developed for the thing by Pirelli, weight has been stripped out and the engine’s obviously been breathed on.
The Aventador SVJ features Lamborghini’s Aerodinamica Lamborghjini Attiva 2.0 (ALA) which is an active aerodynamic system that uses flaps etc opening at certain speeds on either the right or the left of the car to help with downforce and turn-in cornering speed.
Oh, what’s the ‘J’ stand for? Jota. And it’s the suffix given to Lamborghini’s hardcore, track-focussed machinery.
The Aventador SVJ will be revealed in August at the Monterey Car Week in the US.
