The first-ever BMW X3 M40i has gone on-sale boasting 265kW and 500Nm of torque… completes the new-generation X3 line-up.

THE BMW X3 line-up is now complete. The arrival of the X3 M40i at the top of the range sees the model line-up round out to five variants. The new-generation X3 was designed by Australia Calvin Luk.

In a statement, BMW Australia boss, Marc Werner said: “We welcome the first-ever M Performance version of the X3, the M40i, to what is a highly competitive market in Australia.

“With that wonderful BMW turbocharged six and a distinctive M Performance look and feel, the M40i is a fantastic combination of versatility, luxury, dynamics and sensational performance” he said.

Under the bonnet of the X3 M40i is a 3.0-litre straight-six-cylinder petrol engine making 225kW at 5500rpm and 500Nm of torque from 1520rpm. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’ll get to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

“Standard-fit Adaptive M suspension affords the driver the option of comfort or sport oriented damping modes, the latter specifically tuned for this M Performance version. M Sport brakes, with trademark blue-painted calipers, offer a larger braking surface than standard for superior stopping power,” BMW said.
