2019 BMW X4 Price, Specs and Release Date

The 2019 BMW X4 has been detailed ahead of its arrival Down Under towards the end of this year, with prices starting from $76,900+ORC.

THE ALL-NEW BMW X4 will go on-sale in Australia towards the end of this year with four variants available at launch.

Speaking about the arrival of the X4, BMW Group Australia CEO, Vikram Pawah, said: “Following on from the initial success of the all new BMW X3 in the market, we are excited to bring the all new BMW X4 Sports Activity Coupe to Australia.

“From the well-equipped X4 xDrive20i through to the first ever X4 M40i M Performance model, the X4 range brings strong dynamics, efficiency and performance to the expanding SAC space.”

The all-new X4 is longer, wide and with a bigger wheelbase than its predecessor promising improved interior space, although it’s still only a 4+1 design – and we wouldn’t want to be the ‘1’ perched in the middle in the back seat. The X4 clearly borrows its design inspiration from the larger X6 and many will either love or hate the look of the thing.

The X4 comes standard with an M Sport bodykit and, as debuted on the X2, an M Sport X package is available as an extra-cost option on xDrive20i, xDrive20d, and xDrive30i variants. The M Sport X package adds an M Aerodynamics exterior package, Frozen Grey design elements including the front kidney grilles and side cladding strips, M Sport adaptive suspension, M sport brakes, BMW Individual high-gloss ‘Shadow Line’ window surrounds and specific light alloy road wheels, measuring 19 inches on xDrive 20i and 20d variants, and 20 inches on the xDrive30i.

As standard, the above mentioned X4 variants are fitted with the M Sport Package. This package offers specific 19-inch light alloy road wheel designs (for 20i and 20d) or 20-inch on xDrive30i), as well as the M Aerodynamics Package, M Sport adaptive suspension and M Sport braking system.

Borrowing heavily from the 7 Series and 5 Series, the X4 offers a full colour Head-Up Display into the driver’s vision. Adding to this is a 10.25-inch colour infotainment touchscreen, mounted centrally in the cockpit. Navigation system professional is standard across the range, incorporating an app-style interface with live updates. Apple CarPlay is available as an option. A new, 12.3-inch wide instrument cluster features black panel technology and digital instrumentation. On the X4 xDrive30i and M40i variants, this display also adapts to the selected drive mode, either ECO Pro, Comfort, or Sport.

Four BMW X4 variants will be available from market launch, and all feature BMW’s sophisticated xDrive all-wheel drive system.  The BMW X4 xDrive20i features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine generating 135kW and 290Nm. The similarly-specified X4 xDrive20d uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 140kW and some 400Nm of torque. Moving to the X4 xDrive30i, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine provides 185kW of power and 350Nm of torque. For the first time ever, the BMW X4 is also available as an M Performance model, in the X4 M40i. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight six-cylinder petrol engine, offering 265kW and 500Nm of torque. All variants get a standard eight-speed automatic transmission, with paddle shifters.
