The 2018 Honda HR-V has gone on-sale in Australia offering updated styling, improved ride and handling, safety and a new variant, the RS.

The updated 2018 Honda HR-V has arrived in Australia with prices starting from $24,990+ORC. There have been some minor design changes to the outside and inside of the vehicle.

The interior maintains the old car’s practicality via the 60:40 split-fold rear seats that offer 18 different possible configurations (utility mode, tall mode, long mode and refresh mode) to maximise the load-carrying space. With the rear seats in use there’s an impressive 437 litres of storage.

The 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is a carry-over and offers 105kW at 6200rpm and 172Nm of torque at 4300rpm. It’s mated to a CVT across all variants. If you opt for either the RS of VTi-LX variants then you’ll get steering-mounted paddles which, when activated, offer a ‘seven-speed’ simulated response in ‘S’ mode.

While other variants carry on unchanged, Honda says it has improved NVH on the RS and VTi-LX variants by adding extra insulation to the front and rear fenders, extra boot insulation, improved door lining insulation and increased underbody insulation. The RS also gets bespoke spring and damper rates and a new electric power steering system.

In terms of safety, Honda has made its city-brake active safety system standard across the range; it works up to 32km/h. On the VTi-LX is Honda’s Advanced Driver Assist System which includes forward collision warning from more than 15km/h, lane departure warning, and high-bean support.
