Hyundai has revealed local pricing and specifications for the 2016 Hyundai Tucson which will go on-sale from August 1, with prices from $27,490 (+ORC).

HYUNDAI HAS RELEASED pricing and details for its ix35 replacement, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Prices start from $27,490 (+ORC) for the entry-level Active and top out at $45,490 (+ORC) for the Highlander. The Tucson Active and Active X multimedia systems will support Apple CarPlay (from September) and Android Auto from early 2016.

Hyundai has introduced a new model, relative to the ix35 line-up, called the ActiveX, which features 18-inch alloy wheels and leather-appointed interior, and is priced from $30,490 (+ORC – manual).

Available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, the new Tucson offers a choice of four petrol and diesel engines together with three transmissions options, including manual, automatic or dual-clutch. At the top end of the tree, the Tucson Elite and Highlander run the same tweaked 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine as the Veloster SR; this engine is marted exclusively to Hyundai’s own seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Beyond the engines and interiors, Hyundai says the Australian-delivered Tucson gets a bespoke suspension and steering based on local development by Hyundai’s Australian chassis development team.

The new Tucson is slightly wider and longer than the ix35 it replaces, Hyundai says it also has a stronger body structure and improved aerodynamics profile.

In terms of safety, Hyundai says the Tucson is well equipped with:

  • Apple CarPlay smartphone support technology (Active and ActiveX models)
