The special-edition Toyota Kluger Black Edition has been revealed and will be available in both 2WD and AWD variants with a $1020 premium on the regular Kluger.

Based on the Kluger GXL, the Kluger Black Edition gets 19-inch gloss-black alloys and 245/55 rubber instead of the standard 18-inch wheels. Other changes include, roof rails, a large upper grille that straddles a body-coloured bumper, smoked backplates for the headlights and lower side mouldings. Prices are $55,970+ORC for the 2WD and $59,970+ORC for the AWD. It’s available in nine colours.

Beyond the cosmetic tweaks, being based on the GXL means the Black Edition also gets:  tri-zone climate control, power tailgate with separate-opening glass hatch, premium seat coverings and door trim, keyless smart entry and start, 12-way power driver’s seat, 8.0-inch display screen with satellite navigation, digital radio, a 4.2-inch multi-information display and rain-sensing wipers.

In making the announcement, Toyota Australia vice president sales and marketing Sean Hanley said, “Toyota Kluger customers now have another opportunity to distinguish themselves beyond the contemporary design, seven-seat space and handling performance that is synonymous with every Kluger”.
