Standard AEB, Sync3 and a contemporary look strengthen the new Ford Transit van for 2020.
FORD’s NEXT-GEN Transit van has arrived with a big upgrade to safety and technology.
Joining the smaller Transit Custom, the new Transit delivers a facelift, consisting of a redesigned front-end with large trapezoidal grille and revised bonnet, headlamps and front bumper.
Inside, the van gets new seats and a new dashboard, and the latest Sync3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity displayed on a larger 8.0-inch screen.
“The tech-loaded next-gen Transit is a real step change when it comes to giving customers more convenience and helping them be more productive on the move. These extensive upgrades – inside and out – like SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are what customers tell us they’ve been looking for,” said president and CEO of Ford Australia, Kay Hart.
The Transit lineup starts with the 350L, priced from $50,490 plus on-road costs, and joined by the 350E and 470E. All models now have autonomous emergency braking (AEB) as standard, and then bolster safety credentials even further with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert (not available on cab-chassis), lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and automatic highbeams and front windscreen wipers.
Additional features include programmable MyKey car access, heated windscreen and a 230V inverter with 400W universal socket.
Powering the lineup is Ford’s 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel turbo engine, producing 125kW and 390Nm through either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission (350L FWD models only).
“With AEB now standard on every Transit – and our whole commercial vehicle line-up – Australian customers can benefit from this significant technology whether they’re in a Transit, Transit Custom or Ranger,” added Hart.
