The updated 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander is on-sale now from $29,290+ORC and boasts styling and some mechanical tweaks. Is it enough?
THE UPDATED 2019 MITSUBISHI Outlander has gone on-sale priced from $29,290+ORC through to $45,790+ORC. There are only key mechanical changes to the vehicle (steering and suspension), with the update mainly dealing with minor styling tweaks and some interior practicality improvements.
At the front, the updated Outlander gets a new-look twin-blade grille, front bumper and rear bumper design combined with a new 18-inch alloy wheel design. On higher grade LS and top-spec Exceed variants there’s also a new rear spoiler which, combined with the front-end tweaks, is intended to improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise.
Across the range, there are new front seats offering increased lateral support and new seat trims too. While the entry-level ES manual misses out, the rest of the range (meaning from ES CVT and upwards) there are new directional rear seat air vents at the back of the centre console and a USB outlet.
Standard across the entire range are: speed limiter with steering wheel controls, illuminated window control switches and one-touch power window operation from the driver’s door for all.
To improve the drive experience, the Outlander’s dull steering has been ditched in favour a of a quick ratio unit while there are now larger diameter front struts and rear shock absorbers to improve body control. Other changes include a new structural bonding method to improve rigidity and tweaks to the exhaust manifold to reduce engine noise.
