2018 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Revealed
The 2018 Jaguar F-Pace SVR has been revealed boasting an “enhanced chassis and aerodynamics” to make it the fastest and most powerful F-Pace.
THE JAGUAR F-PACE SVR has been revealed boasting 44% more power and capable of hitting 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds thanks to 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The F-Pace SVR is the work of Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).
“The F-PACE SVR delivers the handling and agility to match its performance. Everything from the steering to the bespoke suspension set-up has been tuned specifically for our performance SUV and the result is a vehicle that lives up to the promise of both the F-PACE and SVR names,” said Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, Jaguar Land Rover.
Aerodynamic enhancements include larger air intakes at the front and side fender vents that are designed to “lower pressure in the wheel arches, reduce lift and provide additional cooling while also optimising high-speed stability”. An SVR bonnet features vents to help extract hot air from the engine bay. At the rear, a unique spoiler is joined by a new bumper housing the quad tailpipes of the Active Exhaust system. The bumper incorporates side strakes that aid aerodynamic performance by smoothing airflow away from the rear of the vehicle, or so says Jaguar.
The uprated chassis has progressive front and rear springs that are 30 and 10 per cent stiffer respectively and incorporate an anti-roll bar specification that contributes to a 5% reduction in body roll.
The F-Pace SVR is the first F-Pace to run Jaguar’s Electronic Active Differential (EAD). The torque on-demand All-Wheel Drive system’s Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) control technology has been optimised to maximise the benefit of the EAD, while the software for the Adaptive Dynamics suspension, Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) and Dynamic Driving Mode are all bespoke to SVR. Engaging Dynamic mode initiates “faster, more responsive gearshifts, sharper throttle responses and increased steering response for a more engaging driving experience in all conditions”.
On the inside, the F-Pace SVR, as you would expect, is lavished in quilted leather and fine-quality trims. It’s also every bit as practical as the rest of the range, maintaining its 650-litre bootspace and 4G wifi connectivity for up to eight devices, and it runs the top-spec Touch Pro infotainment system with its 10in touchscreen and 12.3in instrument cluster.
There’s no word on when we can expect to see the F-Pace SVR Down Under, but stay tuned, we expect Jaguar Australia to make an announcement soon.
Not bad at all. Too bad they don’t offer a hybrid version, say with a supercharged V6 driving rear wheels and two electric motors driving front wheels, with combined outputs of 400kW/650Nm.
