Tweaked 2017 Audi Q2 Launch Editions priced from $49k…
The 2017 Audi Q2 will be launched in Australia later this month with Audi revealing a limited run of Launch Edition variants.
WITH SUV SALES booming in this country, Audi has high hopes for its compact SUV, the Q2 (officially on-sale on 24 February). To celebrate the local launch of the Q2, which is later this month (Practical Motoring will be attending the launch so stay tuned for a first drive review), Audi has announced a Launch Edition variant.
The Q2 Launch Edition in Quantum Grey (borrowed from the Q2 Edition #1) comes equipped with the 1.4 TFSI engine, for $49,900+ORC. In addition to the same standard equipment featured in the design model line, the Launch Edition features S line exterior styling, including 19-inch alloys) and black contrasting elements, as well as a suite of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and active lane and side assist.
“The highly anticipated all-new Audi Q2 will establish itself as a unique offering in the premium compact SUV segment. It will open up the Audi brand to a new range of young and young-at-heart buyers,” said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director at Audi Australia.
“This new model will exceed customer expectations of how an Audi should look, thanks to its progressive polygonal design language, and what it should offer, thanks to a suite of infotainment and connectivity technologies. We are very pleased to be launching this game-changing vehicle to Australia in such a competitive package.”
The all-new Audi Q2 will be offered initially in just two model lines: the 1.4 TFSI design for $41,100+ORC and the 2.0 TDI quattro sport for $47,900+ORC. Both models mate their engines to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. Despite its tiny-tot size, the boot is pretty big at 405 litres with the back seats in place.
The entry level 1.4 TFSI model features fuel-saving Cylinder-on-Demand technology that shuts down two of the four cylinders under light throttle loads, like when you’re coasting on the highway. It develops 110kW and 250Nm and returns 5.3L/100km. The 2.0 TDI engine makes 110kW and 340Nm, with fuel economy of 5.0L/100km. The 2.0 TDI is offered exclusively with quattro all-wheel drive while the petrol is front-wheel drive only. A 2.0 TFSI quattro model with 140kW and 320Nm will be arrive here later this year.
In terms of safety, the new Q2 will feature Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), MMI Navigation, Bluetooth and smartphone interface, voice control and parking system plus with rear view camera. Automatic air-conditioning with dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed seats, auto-dimming interior mirror and either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, depending on the model, round out the key highlights. The 2.0 TDI quattro also gains an electric tailgate, sport seats and Audi side assist as standard equipment. The all-new Q2 has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating, with an ANCAP rating pending.
