Volkswagen Brazil reveals its Saveiro Surf concept which will go on-show at the Sao Paulo Motor Show at the end of October.

THE PARIS MOTOR show might be over, but the Sao Paulo Motor Show will kick off at the end of this month and Volkswagen Brazil has just revealed its show-stopper, the Saveiro Surf concept. Recently refreshed for the South American market, the VW Saveiro is the VW Amarok’s baby brother. Sort of.

Front-wheel drive only, the Saveiro and Saveiro Surf concept is based on a Volkswagen Gol and comes with a single cab and ute back. Think a front-drive version of the Subaru Brumby and you wouldn’t be too far off.

Given the recent Saveiro refresh included a raft of safety features, indeed, Volkswagen Brazil said, at the time, the Saveiro now met world safety standards… so, would it ever come to Australia? Unlikely, but we’ve reached out to Volkswagen Australia and will update this article when we have an answer.

Looking pretty cool, the VW Saveiro Surf concept runs a 1.6-litre four-cylinder than produces 74kW which gets its power to the ground via a five-speed manual transmission.

The Sao Paulo Motor Show begins on 30 October.

  1. Front wheel drive only won’t cut it on those sandy tracks that lead to remote surf locations, why bother jacking it up to look like a 4WD if they aren’t going to put the effort in!

It might work if you don’t mind driving on those tracks in reverse everywhere to maintain traction!
