Toyota Camry RZ revealed

Toyota has taken styling cues from the Toyota 86 to dress-up a new, special-edition Camry, the Camry RZ.

PRICED FROM $31,990 (+ORC) the special-edition arrives on the market as the Camry celebrates 31 years in Australia and its 21st consecutive year as Australia’s best-selling mid-size car. The Camry RZ borrows a long-list of features from the top-spec Camry Atara SX, including sports suspension, sports body kit incorporating side skirts and rear bumper, and a boot lip spoiler in gloss black.

The new front-end of the Camry RZ offers front fog lights with black surrounds, sports-style headlights with dark inserts and a new-look grille that combines body colour and gloss black inserts. It’s also available in a new-for-Camry colour, Inferno Orange.

The press release from Toyota says: “The Camry RZ side view is dominated by aggressive-looking gloss-black 17-inch alloy wheels (including the spare wheel), also from Atara but with a unique gloss black finish, replacing the 16-inch Altise wheels. They are set off with a black wheel ornament with chrome highlights.

“Atara interior equipment garnered for the Camry RZ includes sports combination meters, premium three-spoke steering wheel and gear-shift knob, and display audio that incorporates a reversing camera monitor. The package is completed with black interior trim and the Camry RZ logo which features in the front floor mats and decals on the doors and rear bumper.”

Under the bonnet is the Camry’s 2.5-litre dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine producing 135kW, it also gets the dual exhaust system from the Atara.

Camry RZ standard equipment includes a six-speed automatic transmission, seven airbags, vehicle stability and traction control, anti-skid brakes, electric power steering, and six-speaker sound system with steering-wheel controls. Like other Toyota models, the Camry RZ comes with capped-price servicing for four years/75,000km and up to five services at $130 per service.
