Custom pull-out electric kitchen revealed for Rivian R1T at the Overland Expo event last weekend in the US.

Electric vehicle start-up, Rivian, which recently received a US$500million investment by Ford has become the first ever electric vehicle maker to showcase a product at the Overland Expo. The camping-oriented show, saw Rivian reveal a custom, pull-out electric kitchen integrated into the R1T and powered by the vehicle’s battery pack.

The slide-out kitchen is hidden in the R1T’s ‘gear tunnel’ and is powered by the vehicle’s 180kWh battery pack.

“We’ve been coming to Overland for a few years now, learning from this community how they use their vehicles,” said Rivian Creative Director Larry Parker. “Much of what we’ve learned from Overland attendees has gone into our product design.”

Rivian has said it will sell the R1T in Australia but there’s no firm date as to when we can expect to see it Down Under.
