Porsche Cars Australia has announced it will purchase 10,000km-worth of accredited renewable energy on behalf of every buyer of a Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid.

PORSCHE CARS Australia (PCA) “is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable ‘E Mobility’ by working with Origin Energy to purchase 100% GreenPower accredited renewable energy on behalf of every buyer of a Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid” the company said in a statement.

This upfront purchase of green power by Porsche and Origin Energy will ensure that buyers and current owners will know that the first 10,000km of charged electric driving is being “offset by accredited renewable energy producing zero emissions”.

Confirmation for Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid owners will come via a Green Energy Certificate in each customer’s ‘Welcome Kit’. Furthermore, all Porsche’s plug-in Hybrid vehicles now come with Porsche branded ChargePoint cards, allowing customers to charge their E-Hybrid vehicles at any ChargePoint stations throughout Australia.

“Porsche is a world leader in plug-in E-Hybrid technology,” says PCA Managing Director and CEO Sam Curtis.

“Porsche is the only luxury brand to offer three distinctive plug-in Hybrid vehicles (Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Panamera S E-Hybrid and 918 Spyder) across three different model lines, so we are proud of our achievements to date and always look to enhance the ownership experience for our customers.”

  1. Any efforts are to be applauded although I would suggest at least 20% of porsche households have solar power.

It would make more sense to purchase renewable power for the non hybrid models it overwhelmingly sells as a good corporate citizen.
