Oops… Ford Mustang Mach E leaked in full

Nearly every detail of Ford’s upcoming all-electric Mustang Mach E has been posted before its official reveal, including pricing and specifications.

FORD HAS MADE a blunder ahead of its official unveiling of the all-electric Mustang Mach E SUV, temporarily posting ‘place holder’ details of trim levels, equipment, pricing and drivetrain spec on its website.

But a user on the Mach E forum was able to access the locked out links on the North American website before they were quickly pulled. Along with details, we also have the first images of the model.

Expectedly, and potentially controversially, the SUV wears a Pony badge up front. There will be three model grades available at launch: Select, First Edition and GT.

Pricing for the model starts at $43,895 for Select, $59,900 for First Edition, and $60,500 for GT.

Inside, we see a large portrait tablet screen like that used in a Tesla.

Drivetrain options are rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, with the electric motor producing a maximum output of 248kW of power and 582Nm of torque on the GT model. Other models produce milder outputs and are not as fast; the GT claims a 0-100km/h sprint in mid-three seconds.

The driving range for the GT is also the greatest, claiming a reasonable 482km on a full charge. Added to that is a quick top-up of 68km range in 10 minutes.

The official reveal of the Ford Mustang Mach E is scheduled for this weekend.

Why do car makers think electric cars have to look like props from the Jetsons? Aerodynamics is a poor excuse for the insipid designs on these things. Nice but forgettable is all I can say for most of them. The freedom from traditional engine and drive-train constraints should allow designers to produce spectacular and exciting vehicles to look at that also perform in ways not possible before. It’s frustrating to see the conservatism. Rant over.
