All-new Subaru Forester teased
Subaru has teased the all-new Forester ahead of of its public reveal at the New York Motor Show at the end of this month.
TRUE TO SUBARU’S five-year product cycle, the Forester is the next vehicle to be updated and Subaru has announced its medium SUV will take a bow at the New York Motor Show this month. It will do so alongside the new Toyota Rav4 and is expected to go on-sale in Australia towards the end of this year.
Subaru isn’t saying anything about the new Forester, and released a dark picture of the rear tail-light and a statement saying it was coming. However, a Japanese publication revealed, earlier this week, photos of what it claims is the new Forester. Now, occasionally, what Japan’s Best Car magazine means can become lost in translation, so, we believe the images below show the magazine’s rendering of the new Forester.
We do know a few things about the new Forester and that is that it will sit on the Subaru Global Platform which has already rolled out under the Impreza and XV and has improved the ride and handling of those two cars over their predecessors.
The Forester will also get the brand’s latest-generation infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as the latest-generation EyeSight which is proving less susceptible to being tricked in bright sunlight or when there’s poor visibility, like in heavy rain.
While it’s unlikely we’ll see new engines, we will see engines tweaked in line with key changes made to Subaru’s 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine which is to improve efficiency rather than liberate more grunt. And the CVT will also be tweaked as it was for the recently updated Liberty and Outback.
There are rumours that Subaru will drop the XT name for the turbocharged Forester, but this is yet to be confirmed.
Finally!
I’d say the mag will be pretty close to the real thing. They got the rear lights right. Anyway Forester always touched by the ugly stick.
If that is it, you need a caliper to measure the differences between the 2019 and 2018 Forester. Super similar.
I agree. The differences in appearance is very minor to say the least.
The Forester needs an 8 speed auto with a very low 1st gear, particularly on the turbo model.
The turbo XT 2lt. will cease production with the 2019 model.
I think this is the current model rendered. The rear boot opening does not match the image released from Subaru and the current gen had the thing wheel arch moldings when launched. I thing your other photo is more likely closer to the real car.
The all new 2.4 Litre Turbo from the Newly released Ascent is likely to be the engine of choice, with all models in different tune. The 2.5 Litre NA engine is dead.
No XT? Slowly but surely they are following Mitsubishis’ lead and will fade into beigedom..Make something that young people lust after and they will purchase your brand ,when they have the income. I’m holding on to my Liberty wagon GT.
