New Jaguar XF will attempt high-wire crossing of the Thames [video]

The 2015 Jaguar XF will on 24 March, as part of the build up to its New York Motor Show debut, attempt to drive cross the Thames River in London on two wires.

JAGUAR HAS employed specialist stuntman, Jim Dowdell, to drive the new 2015 Jaguar XF on two 34mm-diameter wires suspended over the Thames River in London. Dowdell has worked on a number of Hollywood action blockbuster movies, including the Jason Bourne series, Indiana Jones and James Bond.

The high-wire drive is a world first and the British car maker has released a teaser video showing preparations. If successful, it’ll set a world record. If unsuccessful, well, it’ll be a disaster. You’ll be able to watch the attempt live at jaguar.com/newxf at 19:00 GMT on 24 March (8:00am AEDT 25th March 2015).

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, said: “I believe the all-new XF will be the best looking car in its class. Elegant, handsome and with proportions that imbue a great sense of integrity – the all-new XF will be true to the strong tradition of sporting Jaguar saloons while being completely of its time.”
