ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Lego is growing up. The company has taken direct aim at motoring enthusiasts with the release of its classic Mini Cooper Mk VIII. Arriving in stores locally from August 1, the Lego Mini Cooper carries a retail price of AU$149.99. The Lego Mini Cooper is, according to the press release, “full of authentic details, from the classic green and white color scheme with white wing mirrors and racing stripes, to the opening doors, hood and trunk, sporty fog lights, detailed engine and separate spare tire compartment”.
What’s more the roof can be removed, once built, to show off the tan coloured interior with patterned seats. The steering wheel turns, and both the gearshift and handbrake move.
“And of course, no Mini Cooper would be complete without a picnic basket and blanket, the perfect accessories for a cozy day in the countryside,” the press release says. At 25cm long, 14cm wide and 11cm high the Lego Mini Cooper sure is compact. It has more than 1000 individual pieces.
