Bentley launches diesel-powered Bentayga
Bentley has announced it will add a 900Nm diesel engine to its Bentayga SUV – it’s the first diesel vehicle the company has ever produced.
BENTLEY HAS announced its Bentyga SUV will now be available with a 4.0-litre triple-charged V8 diesel engine. Making 320kW and 900Nm of torque from just 1000rpm, the diesel Bentayga will get to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds. According to Bentley, the new diesel engine is its cleanest engine ever with the lowest CO2 emissions in its range with 210g/km.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, said: “The Bentayga Diesel represents a moment of immense significance in Bentley’s history, by giving the world its fastest luxury diesel SUV. Immense power, grand touring capabilities and superb refinement – this is a true Bentley. Only Bentley could produce a car so powerful, yet so refined.”
Bentley is claiming a 1000km range for the diesel-powered Bentayga, which means owners could drive from Sydney to Melbourne and still have enough diesel to drive around for a couple of days.
The new model features a bespoke exhaust system designed to minimize the ‘diesel’ sound as well as Selective Catalytic Reduction for reduced NOx emissions.
The rest of the model is typical Bentley opulence and you can read our review of the petrol-powered Bentayga here.
