The 2017 Suzuki Swift has been revealed in leaked images published by Motor1 and, according to rumour surfaced via a dealer presentation in France.
THE 2017 SUZUKI SWIFT has been revealed via grainy images taken at a dealer presentation in France earlier this year. The images were published by Motor1 and have since popped up on automotive sites around the world.
The new Swift still retains elements of the current vehicle, but pushes the boat out, in terms of design, clearly borrowing from the Vitara. Both the Swift and Swift Sport were shown at the presentation, the Swift Sport is the grey vehicle in these photos. You can see more pics here.
The Swift Sport, as you can see, gets gaping air intakes and a spoiler lip as well as LED daytime running lights. We’ll wait and see what it looks like in the metal, but the pics seem to suggest it’ll be a better looking thing than the current Swift/Swift Sport.
In terms of the engine(s), it’s rumoured the new Swift will offer either a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine or the 1.2-litre DUALJET engine which offers about 66kW and 120Nm of torque, while the Swift Sport might get the 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder out of the Vitara S which makes 103kW and 220Nm of torque. It’s possible the Swift will also get a hybrid option.
At this stage it’s expected the Swift will hit the market OS in Sprint 2017 with the Swift Sport arriving a few months later. Locally, there’s been no word out of Suzuki as to when the Swift might arrive but would likely expect the new model to arrive a few months after its international launch.
The Swift and Swift Sport were revealed alongside the refreshed SX-4 and this model is likely to be the one most sought after by Suzuki Australia given this country’s love of SUVs.
