Ford is looking to build on the sales success of the Ford Ranger with the launch of its Ranger 4×4 XLS Special Edition model next month.

THE FORD RANGER is within spitting distance of the Toyota HiLux in year-to-date sales, and managed to sell more units than the HiLux in July. Now it’s looking to grow sales with the release of its Ranger 4×4 XLS Special Edition model which goes on-sale next month.

“Already considered one of the most capable and desirable pick-up trucks on the market, we expect the Ranger 4×4 XLS Special Edition will help us narrow the gap to Toyota even further, with Ranger 4×4 now only 172 units behind the Hilux 4×4 year-to-date,” said Graeme Whickman, CEO and President at Ford Australia.

The Ranger 4×4 XLS Special Edition is essentially just an options pack, adding around $4900 in extra equipment to the 4×4 XLS Double Cab Pick-up for just $2500 mode. It gets a:

  • Sports bar;
  • Genuine Ford tow-bar;
  • Side steps that help entry and egress; and a
  • Bed and tailgate liner.
