2016 Chevrolet Spark teased
The 2016 Chevrolet Spark (nee 2015 Holden Barina Spark) has been teased ahead of its simultaneous reveal at both the New York and Seoul Motor Shows on April 2.
SPIED IN KOREA earlier this year, Chevrolet has teased a darkened image of its 2016 Chevrolet Spark, which is sold in Australia as the Holden Barina Spark.
According to Michael Simcoe, GM International vice president of Design: “The new Spark’s design has evolved and grown up with the segment. The youthful whimsy of the original Spark is still in its genes, but it is conveyed in more traditional proportions that reinforce the customer’s refined expectations.”
The new Spark shares it underpinnings with both the Opel Karl and Vauxhall Viva that were revealed recently at the Geneva Motor Show. However the Spark looks sharper in its styling than either of those two cars. And it certainly looks smarter than the current Barina Spark with its oversized headlights that accentuate the snub nose.
It’s expected the new-look Holden Barina Spark will hit the market next year (2016) as part of Holden’s plan to launch 24 new models here by 2020. Does that sound like the brand’s trying to compensate for something?
