Hennessey has released a video of its 2015 Ford Mustang HPE700 hitting 195mph (312km/h). Yee-Ha!

FOLLOWING a recent quarter-mile speed of 130mp/h (208km/h), Hennessey set out to break 300km/h with its 2015 Mustang HPE700 and got the opportunity when it was invited to test its Pony car at Continental Tires’ 8-mile long high-speed bowl.

“We rounded up a team of our technicians and engineers and made a quick road trip to Uvalde, Texas, US to see how our HPE700 would perform at higher speeds,” John Hennessey said.

After a warm-up lap, Hennessey built up to 130mph (208km/h) on the bowl – he wanted to have hit 140mph by the time he got to the 1.1-mile long straight.

“When I hit the straight, I wanted to be around 140mph (224km/h) and then let all of the Mustang’s horsepower run wide open. The car pulled very strong and just kept pulling. I hit a pretty nasty bump around 170mph (272km/h) and kept my foot on the gas. Then I hit the rev limiter at just over 195mph (195.2mph, or 312.32km/h to be precise) according to the Racelogic VBox display”.

“I’m very happy with this first test of our specially tuned Ford Mustang GT”, said Hennessey.

“The aerodynamic stability of the stock bodied car gave it a balanced and predictable feel at speed. We are also very happy to have the ability to demonstrate the daily driveability of our HPE700 along with the durability. Our supercharged 5.0 V8 ran flawlessly at high rpm and high speeds while oil temps were never an issue. We drove it to Continental, ran 195+ mph and drove it home – a round trip distance of over 500 miles (800km)”.

Hennessey will build 500 units of its 2015 model year Mustang HPE700 with 50 orders already confirmed, pricing starts from US$59,500 and includes the donor 2015 5.0L Mustang GT. It will retail through AutoNation dealerships across the US.
