Mazda is recalling a batch of 2.5L Mazda6 models because of a potential programming error that could see the fuel pump fail after i-Stop operation.
MAZDA AUSTRALIA IS recalling a batch of Mazda6 (GJ1031) Sedan and Wagons powered by the 2.5-litre four-cylinder due to a programming error with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which “may fail to provide an adequate supply of electric power to the fuel pump following i-Stop operation”.
According to Mazda, “This may cause the fuel pump to stop operating, preventing the engine restarting or stalling after initial take off [or after i-Stop operation]. If this occurs, the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) on the instrument panel will illuminate.
The vehicles being recalled were sold between 21 November 2013 – 2 October 2014 (JM0GJ103100125898 – JM0GJ103100132959).
