Pricing announced for 2019 BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition
The 2019 BMW X3 M Competition will go on-sale here later this year with prices starting at $157,900+ORCs.
The 2019 BMW X3 M and X4 M Competition variants will arrive here towards the end of this year with prices starting at $157,900+ORCs. The Competition variants are based on the X3 and X4 M140i variants with the engine and traction systems tweaked.
Indeed, the engines get a power 22kW power bump for both variants for a total output of 375kW and 600Nm of torque and seeing them get from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds. But these variants are all about traction and so there’s no rear-wheel drive setting. Instead, they run a variable M xDrive all-wheel drive system (set with a rear-drive bias) with drive modes, there’s also an electronic rear differential and torque vectoring for improved turn-in. Both variants continue with adaptive dampers and drive modes as well as full stability control in three steps, including fully off.
In terms of styling, the two variants feature 21-inch alloys, M Sport seats and exhaust, high-gloss treatment of the kidney grille and mirror caps. Later in the year (from August 2019 in Europe) an M Carbon exterior package will become available for the X3 M and X4 M, including carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the front air intakes, the air blades in the front apron, the rear diffuser and the exterior mirror caps, with the Competition variants adding a CFRP rear spoiler.
In announcing the price, BMW boss, Vikram Pawah said, “The all new BMW X3 M and X4 M twins will rightly be seen as brand halos in this market.
“BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicles continue to increase in popularity here, and Aussies have always loved high performance.
“With the X3 M and X4 M, the BMW M engineers have demonstrated their confidence in the platform by introducing the next generation of BMW M engine under the bonnet. It’s the first time M has done this in a Sports Activity Vehicle, and it is equally at home on road or race track,” he said.
