The 2020 Hyundai Venue has been revealed at the New York Motor Show and will arrive here towards the end of the year.

The 2020 Hyundai Venue will slot in beneath the Kona when it arrives in Australia later this year. Being the smallest, it will be the most affordable Hyundai SUV (pricing hasn’t been announced) and will arrive in Australia via Hyundai Ulsan factory in Korea.

Speaking at the reveal in New York, Mike O’Brien, vice president of Product, Corporate and Digital Planning, Hyundai Motor America, said, “The all-new Venue might be small in size, but it’s big on practicality and personality.

“Its bold and unique character sets it apart from other SUVs on the market, offering a unique, entry-level vehicle for those consumers seeking savvy design with an abundance of standard safety, technology and connectivity features.”

Venue borrows the Cascading Grille design used on the Kona and NEXO, including LED lights and cube-shaped headlights which carry through to the taillights. Venue will be available with 15- and 17-inch alloys.

“The Hyundai SUV line-up can be compared with the pieces on a chess board,” said SangYup Lee, executive vice president of design, Hyundai Motor Group. “Our new Palisade is the King, but we are missing the smaller piece. And that’s where Venue comes in. It may be small, but its unique and bold design sets it apart from the rest of the pack,” he explained.

“We can see the Hyundai look in Venue but there is a unique quality that will appeal to individual customer’s tastes and preferences in a way that sets it apart from the other SUVs in our line-up.”

On the inside, the dashboard is dominated by an 8.0-ich infotainment screen offering sat-nav and Apple and Android connectivity. Hyundai claims the 60:40 split-fold rear seats can be folded flat, for, wait for it, “those trips to the farmer’s market or transporting musical instruments”.
