2017 Ford Mondeo receives visual upgrades
Ford Australia has upgraded all Mondeo models in 2017 with larger alloy wheels and a new paint colour.
Ford’s update to its popular Mondeo doesn’t equate to much, however, its 47 per cent year-on-year increase in sales in 2016 would indicate it already offers a lot.
“The changes for 2017 give consumers even greater choice and style for what’s a technologically advanced package, with EcoBoost engines, smart diesel as well as SYNC® 3 technology,” said Ford Australia President and CEO, Graeme Whickman.
The five-door wagon and hatch receives larger alloys on all models across the range. The top-spec Titanium model gets 1-inch larger 19-inch alloys with 235/40 Continental rubber and the mid-spec Trend model’s five-spoke alloys also grow 1-inch to 18-inches total.
The base model Ambiente will look the business too, with 1-inch larger 17-inch alloys and 20mm wider tyres, now 235/45.
“This means that the Ambiente hatch hits that sweet-spot of being even better looking, yet with a wider tread area, sees an increase in roadholding for improved safety and drivability. It’s win-win,” said Todd Willing, Ford Asia-Pacific Design Director.
“An increase in wheel size provides Mondeo a sure-footed dynamic stance that matches the chassis’ outstanding roadholding.”
The new paint colour available on the Mondeo is called ‘Metalicious’ and it adds another shade of silver to the palette.
“The new shade, ‘Metalicious,’ is a warm tinted clear-coat silver with a high degree of colour flip and sophistication that accentuates the beautiful forms of Mondeo,” said Willing.
The usual Mondeo kit remains intact such as the well-implemented SYNC3 with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, DAB and apps like Spotify and Pandora on an 8.0-inch screen, and an automatic transmission as standard.
The changes add $500 to the Trend (from $37,790 +ORCs) and Titanium (from $44,790 +ORCs), however Ambiente will remain unchanged starting from $33,190 (+ORCs)
I don’t like the new alloys or the fussy styling update.
