The 2016 Hyundai Tucson (replacing the ix35) has been revealed in the UK, and it launches in Australia later this year.

THE 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON has been launched overseas, and while the specification is never quite the same for Australia it does indicate what we might expect.

There’s keyless entry, an electric tailgate, smart parking assistance, probably both back-in-to-a-bay and parallel parking.  The new wave of safety tech – autonomous emergency braking (AEB),  lane departure warning and blind spot detection – had been developed for the vehicle, so we hope it’ll be on our variants.

There are two and four wheel drive variants, sports and normal transmission modes, diesel and petrol.  Based on past experience we’re likely to see a decent range of options here.  Length is 4475mm, width 1850mm and height 1645mm.  The automatic is a seven-speed unit.

Overall, this looks like quite an improvement on the current model, and it could bring a lot of class-leading safety tech to the segment.  We’ll have to wait until the Australian launch (in July) to find out more.
