SUBARU DOES A very good job of not saying much about its motor show line-up and it’s in fine form about the Tokyo Auto Salon where it’s announced it will show a trio of STI-tuned models, including the Subaru XV Hybrid STI. Other models on show will be the BRZ STI Performance Concept which we’ve already seen, and the Levorg STI.
Subaru has said its displays at the Tokyo Auto Salon are all about showing off STI’s core areas of business: “aftermarket parts, complete cars and motorsports”.
The BRZ STI Performance Concept has been shown before and includes STI suspension and brake enhancements as well as other exterior and interior upgrades, it employs the STI-tuned EJ20 horizontally-opposed 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged racing engine currently used for the Super GT race in Japan.
The Levorg STI Concept will be pained in “WR Blue Pearl” get an “exclusive front fascia with quality feel and STI-designed 18-inch aluminum wheels”. “By employing exclusive STI-tuned dampers, superb ride quality, stability and exhilarating handling performance have been delivered,” Subaru said.
And the Subaru XV Hybrid STI Concept “harmonized Subaru XV’s “casual & sporty” character with STI brand’s sportiness”. It gets orange-colored accents on “Quarts White Silica” exterior paintwork. Subaru hasn’t said what other tuning parts it will get, saying just that it will employ “STI sports parts”, which will ensure a “superb ride quality and stability”.
The Tokyo Auto Salon starts on January 15. Stay tuned for more information.
