The Ssangyong Musso will see a return to Australia for the Korean car maker when it arrives Down Under later this year, with Tivoli and Rexton SUVs joining it.

THE ALL-NEW SSANGYONG Musso (Korean for rhinoceros) is set to arrive Down Under later this year although neither a specific date or price has been set for the launch – although it’s expected to be around the time of the Rexton’s launch in November. Practical Motoring’s Paul Horrell got behind the wheel of the new Musso recently, read his review.

Speaking about the Musso’s return, Ssangyong Australia boss, Tim Smith said: “Australia is the home of the Ute and we are genuinely excited about the prospects for the all-new Musso.

“We will be going to market with a vehicle that offers customers outstanding performance, class-leading carrying capabilities, a host of creature comforts and tough, rugged styling.

“The all-new Musso is set to land a few punches on the established players,” he said.

Under the bonnet, the Musso is powered by the same e-XDi220 engine found in the Rexton, delivering 133kW at 4000rpm and 400Nm from 1400rpm, matched to either six-speed manual transmission or six-speed Aisin automatic. The Musso offers high- and low-range, up to 215mm of ground clearance and a 20.2-degrees approach and 23.0-degrees departure angles.

Ssangyong is keeping final specifications close to its chest but it has said active safety features will feature on top-spec variants as well as a larger infotainment screen with smartphone connectivity.
