Special edition Skoda Superb 4×4 Outdoor Wagon added to updated Superb range – Available form October it sells from $52,690(+ORC).

FOLLOWING ON FROM the recent release of the 2014 Skoda Superb Sedan and Wagon, Skoda Australia has added a special edition 4×4 Outdoor Wagon variant. Only available with the Superb’s 125TDI engine which produces 125kW at 4200rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1750-2500rpm, it’s mated to a six-speed DSG transmission and all-wheel drive.

Key features setting it apart from the rest of the Superb range include, Bi-Xenon headlights with the Adaptive Frontlight System, a touchscreen 6.5-inch Columbus Satellite Navigation system, and heated seats, as well as a Driver Pack (KESSY standard). Available in either Candy White or Moon White metallic paint colours, the Superb 4×4 Outdoor’s exterior features a front and rear bumper in two-tone black and silver, dark covers on the front and rear wheel arches, a protective strip on the loading edge of the rear boot and protective door sill covers and side moulding strips.

The most significant enhancement the Superb 4×4 Outdoor receives over the Superb Elegance Wagon is an all-wheel drive drivetrain, although when Skoda says all-wheel drive it really means front-wheel drive until the rear axle is needed for extra grip and then drive is shuffled front and back and side to side as the Superb’s on-board computer brain sees fit. It’s a very different system than Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive which offers a permanent 50:50 split front to back.
