This is Skoda’s first production plug-in hybrid and draws off the technology of the wider VW Group. The battery can be charged at home overnight using a conventional socket or in 3 hours and 30 minutes via a wallbox with a charging output of 3.6kWh. The charge point is located behind a flap in the grille. As is typical of this type of vehicle, it can be driven on battery alone or as a combination of both.

When being driven on battery power only, an onboard sound generator warns pedestrians there’s a silent Superb nearby.

From the outside, the Superb iV looks much like its regular Superb siblings with the charging socket and iV badges the main giveaways. The lithium-ion battery pack eats up a little bit of storage space reducing the boot to 485 litres in the sedan and 510 litres in the wagon.
