Renault confirms Clio GT for Australia

Following the introduction of the Clio range, including the R.S. 200EDC, Renault Australia has announced it will soon introduce GT versions of the model for customers who want the look, but don’t need the performance.

THE CLIO GT 120 EDC FEATURES a sporty front bumper incorporating wide-set LED lights, a special rear bumper design, twin exhaust tail pipes, body-coloured side protective mouldings with dark metal insert, dark metal door mirror housings, extra-tinted rear glass and special 17-inch wheels, and, of course, the all-important GT badging beneath the Renault logo at front and rear.

The GT 120 EDC is available in an exclusive colour, Malta Blue.

In the cabin, there are bolstered front sports seats with GT-specific upholstery and GT-branded headrests. The upper dashboard is finished in a speckled grey finish and there are various grey trim highlights. Fixed gearshift paddles are mounted behind the leather-trimmed sports steering wheel.

Power comes from the TCe 120 EDC engine pushing out 120hp (Renault obviously feels this sounds more impressive than 89.5kW) and 190Nm. Transmission is a six-speed dual clutch auto. Fuel consumption is a claimed 5.2 L/100km.

The Clio GT range follows the Megane range of Renault-Sport created GT versions, launched in mid-2013 and goes on sale in April 2014.

Prices and complete specifications will be released closer to launch date.

The Renault Clio GT is for those buyers wanting the hot hatch look without the performance
