The refreshed 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been revealed in Thailand today where it’s on-sale now, but we won’t see it Down Under until early next year.
The refreshed Pajero Sport follows the same path of the Triton in that while it looks a little different it’s essentially the same vehicle as the current car. In revealing the refreshed Pajero Sport, Mitsubishi said: “New Pajero Sport adopts a more refined, powerful appearance, complemented with a refreshed interior that delivers quality and comfort”.
The refreshed interior includes some padded bits and pieces on the doors and a new storage tray and an AC power outlet at the back of the centre console. There’s a new digital instrument cluster on the inside of the cabin with a new 8.0-inch infotainment screen (with Apple and Android connectivity). Look at the pictures below (new Pajero Sport on top) and you can see it’s just that infotainment screen and the climate controls that separate the refreshed from the current model. The powered tailgate features both gesture control (stick your foot underneath the back of the thing) or via a Mitsubishi smartphone app.
Like the new-look Triton, the refreshed Pajero Sport runs the same Dynamic Shield front-end with the intention of making the vehicle look wider and more imposing. The same goes for the depth of the grille and the higher bonnet; it’s all intended to make it look bigger.
The Pajero Sport continues with the current engine (2.4L) and transmission (8SP) set-up and adds lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert for improved active safety.
Mitsubishi hasn’t said yet what changes there will be to pricing; this will be announced closer to the local launch next year.
