THE REFRESHED INFINITI QX80 is on-sale in Australia now from an unchanged $110,900+ORC. Based on the Nissan Patrol, the Infiniti QX80 has copped a new-look front-end including new headlights, bumper, grille and a generally more squared-off snout.

The bonnet is 20mm higher and has been extended by 90mm, the double-arch grille is taller and broader. The side steps have been extended by 20mm to make it easier to climb in and out. At the back, the tailgate, tail-lights and rear bumper have been redesigned to give the appearance of the vehicle being taller than it is.

Inside, the QX80 has an updated upper instrument panel, plus new door panels, the centre and rear-centre consoles have been redesigned, as have the rear entertainment screens. Seating has also been refreshed.

The QX80 is powered by a 5.6-litre V8 engine offering 298kW and 560Nm of torque, and features Infiniti’s All-Mode 4WD system. It comes with a seven-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control, 22-inch forged aluminium-alloy wheels – with a new 18-spoke design – and a towing capacity of 3500kgs.

“This a great update for Infiniti QX80, one that we think will attract new buyers to QX80 and to the brand,” said Infiniti product manager, Edward Trinh.

“Whether it’s the commanding exterior design, luxurious interior, or the abundance of advanced safety technologies, the Infiniti QX80 is the ideal vehicle for active families who want a premium drive experience every time they open the door.”

Standard safety features include, Blind Spot Monitoring, Intelligent Parking System, Forward Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning as well as Intelligent Rear View Mirror which turns the standard rear view mirror into a monitor. Via the camera mounted to the top of the rear windshield, drivers are still able to see behind them even if the rear window is blocked by people, ice, dust or rear cargo.
