PIRTEK has announced it will again sponsor Marcos Ambrose and the new DJR Team Penske for the 2015 V8 Supercars season.

THE 2015 V8 SUPERCARS season is shaping up to be one of the biggest in the category’s history, not least because it’ll see the departure of Ford as a factory supporter. This year will also see PIRTEK and Marcos Ambrose reunite in V8 Supercars – PIRTEK was the major sponsor of Ambrose’s Stone Brothers Ford from 2001 to 2005, including his back-to-back championship seasons in 2003 and 2004.

The sponsorship deal sees an extension to the one-off sponsorship of Ambrose’s return to V8s at the Sydney 500 in December 2014.

“Marcos Ambrose, PIRTEK and V8 Supercars form a symbiotic relationship that has been a cornerstone of our brand since Marcos arrived on the V8 Supercar scene in 2001,” said PIRTEK CEO, Stephen Dutton.

“We’ve enjoyed some wonderful success with Marcos and our loyal franchise base still regularly refer to those Championship years with fondness and we’re hopeful of capturing more success with him in the DJR Team Penske entry.

“The announcement that Marcos was coming back to Australia and bringing a captain of motor racing and industry in Roger Penske with him has created unprecedented interest.

“From our first meeting with Roger and his team, the synergy between the organisations became clear, particularly in the areas of heavy transport and earthmoving – both key markets for PIRTEK.

For Ambrose, PIRTEK being back on board completes an important part of a welcome home process, after almost 10 years in NASCAR.

“Having PIRTEK riding along with me this season really helps. It makes me feel like I am back home,” said Ambrose.

“We’ve got a big challenge ahead of us at DJR Team Penske but there are a lot of well- credentialled guys in the team and I’m comfortable with our preparation.

“There isn’t a lot of testing that you can do under V8 Supercar rules, which makes it very hard, but we’ll learn as we go and hopefully can achieve some solid results.”

DJR Team Penske Managing Director, Ryan Story, was delighted to formally announce PIRTEK as part of his organisation’s partner group.

“It is a great fit to have PIRTEK on a car driven by Marcos and hopefully we can have similar success to what they enjoyed when they were last together in V8 Supercars.”
