Kia reveals first images of new small SUV
Due to be revealed later this year, Kia has teased two sketches of its all-new small SUV which will share its platform with the Hyundai Venue.
Kia has teased its all-new small SUV via two design sketches and will reveal it in full later this year. Sharing its platform with the Hyundai Venue, Kia is keeping quiet on key details about the small SUV but has said, “the new vehicle possesses the space and capabilities of a traditional SUV in a compact package”.
The design, the Korean car maker claims, has been inspired by the 2019 Kia SP Signature Concept (pictured below) and that it will “stand apart from rivals by matching the unique preferences and needs of the millennial generation” – whatever that means.
Byung Chul Juh, Head of Kia Styling at Kia Motors Corporation, said: “We have created a car which stands out everywhere, from the city to the countryside. Its robust yet sporty design will be matched by a wide range of features and technologies that are universally suited to younger buyers in markets around the world. Our new small SUV is a proposition that no other car in its class will match.”
The new small SUV will be a global offering which means it has to work as well in Korea as it does in Sydney, London and beyond. The vehicle will go on-sale towards the end of this year in Korea first with sales in other markets to follow.
