UK COACH BUILDER, Kahn Design has revealed its prototype Land Rover Defender 110 based Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept. Codenamed Mission 1, the official reveal will take place next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

While Kahn Design hasn’t exactly said so, we reckon this concept is a direct response to the Mercedes-AMG G63 6×6. The Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept a 6.2-litre GM LS3 V8 engine thumping out 320kW, driving a six-speed automatic gearbox with tap shift control.

In typical Defender style, the 6×6 concept gets a hi-lo ratio drive system and locking differentials, a heavy-duty chassis as well as upgraded braking and suspension systems. Kahn Design hints that its concept will be just as capable on-road as off it, “this modern British icon would be equally comfortable outrunning any roadgoing SUV,” it said in a statement.

The Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept has been lengthened with a 400mm extension to the bonnet, and 800mm extension to the rear cabin, as well as being widened by 150mm. The windscreen rake has been increased, and the rear door widened along with the front doors increased length to allow improved entry and egress. A full panoramic roof extends from the B pillars to the rear of the vehicle.

Kahn Design says internal discussions are taking place to determine a production schedule for the vehicle with up to five variants, including four- and six-wheel versions planned, as well as a range of hard top and pickup options. The company is even planning armoured versions, covering B4, B6, B6+ and B7 armour classifications.

So, is this the ultimate Land Rover Defender?
