Mitsubishi has teased a facelifted 2019 Mitsubishi Triton as part of its 40th anniversary since launching its 1-ton pickup in 1978.

The updated Mitsubishi Triton has been teased as part of the Japanese car maker’s celebration of 40-years since it launched its first 1-ton pickup. It was called the Forte and in some markets, L200, a name the brand still uses today.

Mitsubishi hasn’t said anything about the Triton being teased in the picture above but it’s unlikely to be an all-new model and, is instead more likely to be a facelifted and tweaked version of the current ute. Indeed, a camouflaged Triton was spied running around Outback South Australia earlier this year.

It’s unknown when the new Triton will be revealed but accompanying its teaser image, which we’ve lightened, it says the “future of the pickup will soon be revealed…” Make of that what you will.

As you can see from the picture, the new Triton will adopt the same snout as other vehicles in the range, like the Pajero Sport. Whether Mitsubishi will drop in a different engine is unknown but it’s unlikely.
