Alpine A110 coming to Australia in second-half of 2018

The Alpine A110 will arrive Down Under in the second-half of 2018 with interested buyers able to reserve a vehicle now… pricing hasn’t been announced.

THE ALPINE A110 was revealed in production trim at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and, Renault Australia and Alpine Cars has, today, announced the A110 will be sold in Australia from the second-half of 2018.

In a statement, Renault Australia’s Managing Director, Andrew Moore, said: “On behalf of Alpine Cars, it is with great pleasure that we can make this announcement today.

“Alpine, the sports premium brand of Groupe Renault, defines a modern sports car designed for driving pleasure. It combines the timeless Alpine principles of compact size, light weight and dynamic agility and keeps true to the spirit of its predecessors, in particular the A110 Berlinette.

“We are delighted that it won’t be long until its loyal fans, as well as those new to the brand, can get behind the wheel,” Moore said.

Australia is only the second market outside Europe to be confirmed and one of only three right-hand drive countries to launch the Alpine A110 to date. According to Renault Australia, the launch model for Australia will draw its inspiration from the European ‘Premiere Edition’, featuring:

  • 18-inch Otto Fuchs forged aluminium wheels;
  • Sabelt monocoque sport seats;
  • Brembo sports braking system with calipers incorporating integrated parking brake and dual-material brake discs with aluminium hub;
  • Active lightweight sports exhaust;
  • Alpine-tuned Focal audio system;
  • Matte carbon fibre interior accents; and
  • Brushed aluminium pedals.

Régis Fricotté, International Sales Director of Alpine Cars, said; “We know that many people have been waiting for this car. In fact, when bookings opened in Europe, all 1,955 Premiere Edition cars were reserved within just a few days. We believe the A110 offers a unique proposition to the market and we expect a similar reaction from Australian sports car enthusiasts when the car is on sale.”

The Alpine A110 gets a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 185kW and 320Nm of torque – this is mated to a seven-speed DCT. The output, coupled with the transmission and the car’s light weight (1080kg) is enough to see it get to 100km/h in 4.5-seconds.

Great looking sports car. I really like it, however I won’t be spending $80K on a 2 seater car anytime soon.

Buy a second hand 86, get it fitted with supercharger ot turbocharger, improves brakes, get a good tune and it’ll destroy this,looks a lot better and cost about $30K less. In fact the 86 will be more than competitive with Cayman once it gets sorted.

BTW I think the car is rather ugly, ungainly like the previous to last Megane.

Nope and never will, money better spent elsewhere. BTW when was Alpine on sale in Australia before this? Has it ever come to Australia?
