2018 Suzuki Siwft set for June launch Down Under

The all-new 2018 Suzuki Swift will arrive here in June and Suzuki Australia is “very, very excited about” it.

SUZUKI AUSTRALIA IS keeping details like pricing close to its chest, but it’s announced the all-new 2018 Suzuki Swift will go on-sale here in June. It has already launched in Europe.

According to Suzuki, “Now re-imagined and re-engineered from the ground up, the latest evolution of the Suzuki Swift features a progressive design, innovative styling, smarter packaging, and is chock-full of advanced technology features”.

Andrew Moore, Suzuki Australia Director Automobiles said: “Swift is Suzuki’s flagship compact car and has evolved in to a worldwide icon since its release. Careful consideration needs to be taken when introducing changes to any product that is already so highly regarded and I am one hundred-percent certain that the revival of Swift is something we should all be very, very excited about.”

Moore went on to say, “Being behind-the-scenes and seeing all of the hard work and market research that has gone in to this final product affirms that the new Swift is set to be a total game changer.”

The new Swift sits on Suzuki’s new platform which makes the small car 30kg lighter than before which has contributed to the car registering a kerb weight of just 890kg – 120kg lighter overall for the whole car. The new Swift is 10mm shorter than the outgoing model, while its wheelbase is 20mm longer, creating more interior room including 25 per cent more luggage capacity at 254L, or 54 litres more than the outgoing model. It is also 15mm lower and 40mm wider, further accentuating its low and wide stance.

Question: Can the new Suzuki Swift challenge key players like Mazda, Hyundai and Kia?

I’m sure it’s a pretty good car to drive, but the styling is still horrible IMO, it’d need to be damn good to choose it over the Mazda 2
