The 2016 Mazda BT-50 has been launched in Thailand with the Ford Ranger-based ute copping a handful of styling tweaks.

DETAILS ABOUT THE refreshed 2016 Mazda BT-50 are still thin despite the thing being launched in Thailand. The main changes on the outside are a new front and rear bumper treatment, new headlights, side indicators incorporated into the wing mirrors and a rear view camera available as a safety option for the first time ) likely to be standard on upper-spec models. The interior carries over almost unchanged.

In Thailand, at least, there are three engines available, but locally, Mazda Australia has said the BT-50 will continue with its current engine line-up, meaning a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel (110kW/375Nm) and a 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo-diesel (147kW/470Nm). Transmission choice will continue to be either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto.

The refreshed 2016 Mazda BT-50 is expected to go on-sale locally later this year.

  1. Red BT-50 is the old model, front and rear lights have definitely changed, suspect interior shots are of the old model also.

    1. Hi Jack, the interior shots apparently come from the reveal in Thailand… And, yes, the Red car in the pics is the old model for comparative reasons. Will add a caption to it. Cheers.

      1. I have got several interior images off the Mazda Thailand website however unfortunately can’t upload them. Worth a look if you are interested (takes a bit of guess work to navigate the page as its all in Thai). A little disappointing to be honest it’s barely an update can’t see sales improving much.

          1. Lightweight update, well below the hype Mazda bosses where talking about 12mths ago. Where could we wrong – price? Maybe they price as per a Triton.
